Growing up in the city of Chicago, Lisa Marie started dancing at a young age mimicking her family and friends, doing moves and styles she later realized were coined as “hip hop.” She auditioned to become member of her high school dance company and Pom Pon squad, and continued dancing and competing with the Buckeye Dance Force at the Ohio State University.

In 2007, she was founding member of one of the first hip hop dance companies (C.O.D.A) in Chicago, IL which is still successfully functioning today. C.O.D.A is an internationally ranked and recognized hip hop dance Crew with Hip Hop International (HHI) – the world’s largest real hip hop Competition & Battle. She competed at HHI with America’s Best Dance Crew- We are Heroes, earning a 4th place title.

Moving to Los Angeles in 2009, she took her first official studio dance class ever and began to pursue a dance career. She received a work-study scholarship from the world renown Debbie Reynolds dance studio. Since then, Lisa Marie has performed with KC & the Sunshine Band, McHammer, Shakira, Sean Paul, The Greatest Showman (Live), Harley Davidson, Nike, Target, and she has trained with some hip hop pioneers including Crazy Legs, Mr. Wiggles, Poppin’ Pete, and Anthony Thomas.

“The number one reason I moved to L.A. was to dance for Michael Jackson. I didn’t have a back up plan. It was either dance for the King or that’s it, I quit! I was blessed enough to have auditioned for This Is It tour! I didn’t make the final cut, but the choreographer told us afterwards, MJ was there watching…and that was a reward in and of itself! When the unthinkable happened – the tour was cancelled and my dream went out the window- I still kept dancing and auditioning. Soon, I was cast for the KC & the Sunshine Band tour- where Travis Payne had did the choreo. (Travis had choreographed many of MJ’s tours and shows). So in some way I felt part of MJ’s world actually having done some of the same moves!”
